Who is Mulberry Bear...?

Mulberry Bear is a little tear bear made from fluffing up thick mulberry paper (Click on the link at the side for your free Tear Bear Instructions if you fancy making your own!).. Tear bears come in various shapes and sizes, but we have made our own little bear using our basic tear bear pattern (available FREE on this site- see "Sarah's Special Page" for details) and called him "Mulberry".

We thought you would also like to know a little bit about Mulberry Bear's family history. Here are a couple of older images from his family album...
Herbert Victor Mulberry Bear
Victoria Beatrice Bear
Mulberry Bear's Great, Great Grandfather (Mulberry was named after him). Herbert was very important in Victorian times, as he was the first of the Bear family to become involved in the import of thick Mulberry Paper into Britain from the East... This would lay down the foundations for the popular pastime of making Tear Bears, which would not be at its most popular for at least another hundred years...
Mulberry Bear's Great, Great Grandmother. Victoria Beartrice married Herbert Bear in 1874. She was a celebrated Model in her day, who appeared on many Victorian Picture Postcards in the late 1800's. She was also an actress in the Music Halls of the West End of London, and could be seen treading the boards with many a famous actor. Above is her most famous picture from an early greetings card...
