A bit about our range...
We sell the materials needed for making your own Mulberry Bears, and these are available either individually or in kit form.
Our Main Kit includes a range of items which will allow you to make the Mulberry Bears pictured on the site, and items such as the brushes can be used for other items/kits after you have used up your initial supply of paper. Extra paper, eyes/noses, opaque white pens can all be purchased from us, as can additional "fluffing brushes", should you require them.
The individual kits include everything you need to make your bears- including enough mulberry paper with the pattern printed on the back to make the item listed, eyes and nose shapes (you need to add white opaque dots on the eyes and a line on the nose for best effect) as well as any die-cut shapes that your Mulberry Bear has pictured with him (these will be unembellished). You will need to tear the paper, assemble the bear and make-up/embellish any additional die-cut shapes to finish your Bear off.
Please note-
We use die cut shapes made from Quickutz Dies in our Kits and Ready-made bears... Many of them are just the right size, such as the hats, etc, but feel free to use other 'Accessories' made from other Brands such as Sizzix. We can't sell Sizzix die cut shapes online (although they are great!), due to their Limited Angel Policy, but there's nothing to stop you using your Sizzix shapes with your bears! Quickutz Angel Policy is more relaxed, which means that we can sell the die cut shapes as part of a kit, as long as they are not the main component... Please feel free to discuss this in Mulberry's Forum, as it appears to be an issue which people have an opinion on...!
If you choose to purchase the ready-made items, then all the making-up and embellishing will be done for you and you will receive your bear with accessories as pictured. Obviously there will be an extra charge on top of the kit price for this service as some of the embellishments are very fiddly- the prices may vary from the straightforward accessories to the more intricate, given the extra time they take to make up. Also, please allow extra time for these ready-made items to be delivered, as they are usually made to order!
In addition to the main kit or the individual kits,
you will need...
1. A fine line pen which you will need to draw the eyebrows, mouth, "freckles", etc... I currently use a Sakura Pigma Micron Fine tipped black pen with a nib size of 005 (0.20mm line-width). This is ideal as it is acid free and so suitable if you are making your bears for scrapbooks. I am please to say that I now have these pens in stock in our shop, as they are so difficult to find here in the UK!
2. Glue- I use Scotch Quick-dry Tacky adhesive mainly, which is also photo safe and acid-free. For smaller parts I use a glue pen (especially for die-cut shapes, which can be a bit fiddly). You will find the adhesive that suits you best through trial and error- like I did!!!
3. Chalks- You will need chalks for adding dimension to your bears. Although not essential, they make your bear stand out and ready do make a difference to the finshed item. I use Dovecraft Decorative Chalks in their "Neutrals" shade, as their browns blend well with the shades of mulberry paper.
